How To Install Google Chrome

You are used to using Internet Explorer to visit your favorite sites. The famous blue "e" icon has some better and more secure competitors, Google Chrome is one of them.

Don't worry, the websites will be exactly the same with Chrome or Internet Explorer, only the way to access them changes. It's a bit like if you have a 82cm or 117cm television, the movie will be the same.

The Google Chrome browser is free and compatible with Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista and XP. Note that these last two systems will soon be unsupported.

How To Install Google Chrome

1. With your current browser (Internet Explorer, Edge or Firefox), go to https://www.google.com/intl/en_us/chrome/ and click on the blue "Download Google Chrome" button.

2. Then click on the blue "Accept and Install" button to start the download.
3. Run the ChromeSetup.exe download.
4. Accept the User Account Control with "Yes".
5. The installation takes a few seconds and then Google Chrome starts automatically. A yellow bar asks if you want to "Set as default browser": websites will always open with Chrome. Then validate with "Yes".

Basic Settings After Downloading Google Chrome

By default, the Google Chrome browser does not display the "Home" button in the shape of a house, to return to the start page. We also do not see the favourites with the most visited websites.
1. Click on the 3-bar icon at the top right of the screen (Chrome menu) and choose Settings (down).
2. In the "Appearance" section, check the box "Show home button" and indicate the site you want to display when you click on this button.
Also check the line "Always show the favourites bar" to access it more quickly.
3. To specify which page you want to appear each time you start Google Chrome, select the line "Open a specific page or set of pages" and click on "Set of pages" to write the address of the site or sites that will open with Chrome. Validate with "OK".

Add a favourite to Google Chrome

To quickly access your favorite sites, you can add them to the favorites bar.
2. By default in the folder "Favourites bar" (leave it like that), you can change the name of the internet shortcut (you can shorten some long names) and validate with "OK".
3. Your favorite sites will be displayed at the top of the screen for a quick access in 1 click.

Quit the Google Chrome browser

In its "Modern UI" version (new look), the Google Chrome web browser does not display a red cross at the top right of the screen to close the software. To do this, you have to close all the tabs until the last one by clicking on the small cross.
